Wow I can not believe that I am 17 weeks and 1 day pregnant today! Gosh how time flies! WE found out yesterday that my little sister is due on Oct 22 which means she is only 6.5 weeks behind me! That is exciting!
I had quite the weekend. Friday after work I went to the washroom and I saw the teeniest amount of blood. It was like when you are about to get your period and it is kind of clear brown. Plus I had been felling awful all day with bad stomach cramps and spending a whole lot of time in the washroom. So off to the ER we went! They were very nice to me in the ER. They did not make me feel bad for coming in and told me we did the right thing.

| The ER doctor said my cervix is closed and the heartbeat was 158bpm. Trevor finally got to here the heartbeat. His face lit right up! The doctor said she would get me in for an earlier u/s than my scheduled 20 week one and to call yesterday to make an appointment. She also recommended that I take it easy. So I have been sworn off the gym again, for a while. I am going over today to put my membership on hold. Trevor and I are going to start walking.

Well, I called on Monday and they got me in at 10:30 am! Gosh I love the small town hospital where I will be delivering. Unfortunately because it was such short notice, Trevor could not come with me. So I went by myself. The ultrasound technician said he got photos of everything we needed for the 20 weeks ultrasound so I do not have to go for another one until 32 weeks unless my OB wants me to. I saw the little beating heart, brain, spine, kidneys and all other parts! The ultrasound tech said the baby was very active and was making it hard for him to take the needed pictures! I told him if he could tell, we would like to know the sex. So we took a look between the legs and there was..... Nothing! We think it is a GIRL! He said not to go painting the nursery, which is already baby green and will stay that color anyways, but he said he did not see anything sticking out.
I cried all the way home in the car. Luckily it is only a 10 minute drive on the highway to the hospital! Trevor has known it was a girl all along, where as I was not sure! We would have been happy either way, but it was a very over whelming visit!

I got a picture of her wee face to show Trevor and her very excited grandparents! I know there is still a chance that she could be a boy, but we are calling her she until she comes out!
This morning I had my monthly appointment with my OB. He just listened to her heartbeat, took my blood pressure, my weight and asked me if I had any questions. One of the questions I had was in regard to my due date. Both ultrasounds have put me further along by about 4 days, so I wanted to know if this changes my due date. My Ob said he would only change the due date if she was measuring more than 10 days early. So it looks like it is still the 6th of September. Also I asked about what I can take for heartburn other than Tums and Rolaids and he recommended Maalox or Gaviscon. Thank god, I love Gaviscon!
Also, I have been having a sharp stabbing pain in my lower abdomen on the right and left side and into my groin. Welcome round ligament pain into the mix! Yippee! I had read about this though, so I do not go into shear panic yesterday when I got some pretty good pains and my OB confirmed it. He said it is the ligaments that hold my uterus in place stretching so that the bay can move further up into my abdomen and is another joy of pregnancy!
Saturday night I went to my friend Rowans houses while our husbands went to a hockey game and we sat a played with her 18 month old baby girl, Jessie. Jessie was only just over 5 pounds when she was born, so she is now only 11 lbs. and 9oz! She is at that really good stage where she will juts sit on your lap and look around, try to talk and do lots of drooling! I had a blast with her! It was weird though, sitting there while my friend breast fed her daughter all I could think of was, Oh my Gosh that is going to be me in September! Trevor and I are going to have a wee baby girl! Gosh the reality of it is kind of overwhelming sometimes!
Oh yes, I have decided to be completely unconcerned about my weight gain. I will report how I am doing, though for all of you who are curious. I gained 1.5 pounds this week, putting me at +10 lbs, which is still right on target. I am avoiding my maternity clothes, as I only have 1 pair of pants, but my avoidance will not last passed my current clothes next visit to the wash machine!
I am sitting here and I am silently suffering in pain with mast heartburn! My chest is so sore! After work I am making a b line for the grocery store and I am getting some Gaviscon!
Alright, this is turning into a novel! It looks like I am go to go for appointments until Apr 26th. I'll keep everyone posted.
Take care,
Wendy
I'm sick! But other than that and some headaches, I feel so good I was almost worried! I am now 16 weeks pregnant and I am still wearing my original jeans. But not for long! I am really starting to pop out and show so it may be time to wear my maternity clothes and post a belly shot!
Well I have some wonderful news. We found out on Sunday that my baby sister Erin (who is 22, but will forever be 13 to me!) and her boyfriend Jay are expecting a baby! (That is them in the photo to the right with their other baby Ozzy) She is not sure how far along she is yet. She is some where between 5 to 9 weeks. So our babies will only be a couple of months apart. Congratulations Er and Jay!!! I love you guys!
I am setting my guestbook back up to work like it originally did, so please feel free to leave me a message. Please just ignore any Viagra comments before I can erase them!
I gained a pound this week. Which puts me at up 8.5 pounds which I think is right on target. I have been off from the gym for a few days because I am sick but I think I will go back tonight even with my nasty headache!
I did it, I got my hair chopped off! Please excuse the goofy look in the photo! I wanted a style that would show off my curls that Trevor loves so much! I have spent so many years pulling my curls back and into a pony tail or a bun, but not any more. I've got them, I might as well be proud of them! So no more chemical relaxers for me, I am going au natural!
Only 4 weeks left until my 20 week ultrasound! We are so excited to find out what the wee gaffer is! Trevor is sure it is a girl. I kind of flip back and forth depending on what I would like at that moment! At first I though a girl would be cool and then I thought maybe a boy would be good too and now I just want a baby!
Well, I guess that is about it for this week. No news is good news, I guess. I have my OB appointment next Wednesday morning so maybe I will have an ultrasound date the next time I journal! So exciting!
Take care,
Wendy
